Anne Krueger, One of the World's Most Accomplished Development and Macro Economists, Discusses Her Pathbreaking and Breathtaking Career and Opines On the Course of Global Economic Power

Anne Krueger’s Wiki says she's 90.  But listen/watch the podcast. You'll hear/she that she's actually 40 going on 39. It's not just her capacity to convey the most insight concepts and facts faster than anyone can process. It's her complete mastery of the world's economic and geopolitical order and disorder. But Anne's been a marvel since she received her PhD in economics from the University of Wisconsin having first attended Oberlin College, one of our country's superb liberal arts colleges. (My son's went to Oberlin!)

Anne was the first female Chief Economist of the World Bank and the first female First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund. These are extraordinary appointments period, but particularly at a time when being female was hardly a ticket to any top position in economics.  Having spent many years on the faculties of economics at the University of Minnesota and Stanford, Anne is currently the senior research professor of international economics at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington.

Anne is the author of seven books and a long list of exceptional research articles. Her 1974 paper, "The Political Economy of the Rent-Seeking Society" is ranked as one of the twenty best articles in the first hundred years of the American Economic Review. I expect the Nobel Prize Committee will acknowledge this and Anne's other outstanding contributions by the time she reaches 50.
