This is a terrifying interview with one of the world’s top experts on Russia, Putin, and Ukraine — Alex Shprintsen. Alex is a 20 times, award-winning journalist and filmmaker. Alex was born in Kharkiv, when it was still part of the USSR. His parents emigrated to Canada when he was a child. He studied at the University of Toronto, finishing with an M.A. in Political Science.
Alex’s first major journalism job was with the BBC World Service Radio in London, followed by a stint in Kyiv as a stringer for the 'LA Times.' He started working at the CBC in 1994 and have been there as a producer/director for the past 30 years. Most of his documentaries focus on Russia and the former Soviet Union. Two long documentaries, related to 9-11, aired on PBS Frontline.
Over the past three years, Alex and reporter, Terence McKenna, have covered Russia's war in Ukraine. Our most recent assignment was a 90-minute documentary about Vladimir Putin, detailing how he took power in a country, which was an emerging democracy 25 years ago, turning it into the violent authoritarian state that it is today.
Here's the link to that documentary, 'Putin's Journey':
Here are two related documentaries of great interest.
'What is Putin's Endgame':
'Investigating war crimes in Ukraine and tracking down Russian soldiers':
