Guillermo Lagarde is the former Chief Economist of Mexico, the former Chief of Staff of the Mexican Minister of Finance, the former Mexican Undersecretary of Revenues, the current Director of Research for Latin America at the Inter-American Development Bank, and my outstanding former Economics PhD Student.
Guillermo has, as you’ll hear, a huge depth of knowledge about the region. He’s also an expert on the digital economy, public sector finances, international finance, financial integrity, and anti money-laundering policies. Guillermo brings us up to date on Latin America’s ongoing economic struggles, its growing economic dependency on China, the potential backfiring of US tariff and immigration policies, and the region’s ongoing failure to put increasingly sophisticated drug cartels out of business.
Economic Matters - The podcast is hosted by Laurence Kotlikoff, a Boston University Economist, a NY Times Best Selling Author, President of maxifi.com, and Author of Money Magic.
