When it comes to writing incisively about all things economics or even just tangentially economics, Peter Coy is simply the best. I learn something new and important each time I read his writings. Peter writes for the Opinion section of The New York Times. And his newsletter for Times subscribers appears three times a week. Before joining the Times in 2021, Peter spent over three decades writing for BusinessWeek and its successor, Bloomberg Businessweek. This was preceded by a stint with the AP. Peter holds a BA in history from Cornell.
Here's a sample of titles of columns that Peter has written in the last few weeks. As you can see, they cover all manner of topics. Peter's columns alone are worth many times the price of a subscription to the New York Times.

Peter does his homework. He doesn't rely on just one perspective. He canvases the entire range of views. He also digs deep into the data, interviews academics, government officials, politicians, business people, and more. Most important, Peter reads economic research and analyses -- academic, government, and business -- in extremely close detail. He is, in short, the ultimate professional journalist and social and economics commentator. And, as you'll see/hear, Peter's also a tremendously modest and nice person. Hence, I'm delighted to have him join Economics Matters -- the Podcast.
Economic Matters - The podcast is hosted by Laurence Kotlikoff and moderated by Alex Kotlikoff.
Laurence Kotlikoff is a Boston University Economist, a NY Times Best Selling Author, President of maxifi.com, and Author of Money Magic.
