Hi Charles, With you. I discussed this option in the book. Ten years is a long time to work at a potentially lower wage than you could otherwise earn. And the lagged in forgiveness is despicable. My best, Larry

The amazing thing is that there has been no serious discussion of reforming the program that entraps 18 year-olds into borrowing for majors that offer no prospect of enabling repayment. What else would you expect from two parties that whistle past the graveyard of 36 trillion debt and promise to spend even more.

There is one out, and that is service in a nonprofit or government organization for 10 years. (Unfortunately, the government has been slow to approve loan forgiveness for these individuals; during the previous administration, the forgiveness requests became severely backlogged. The current administration has made a priority of honoring the government's promise to forgive student loans with 10 years' service.
